Trying To Make It To Hollywood!

I believed fame would let me "have it all": riches, women, respect, and most of all, happiness. In 1995 I was an assistant director and acting in a movie. I had made some good connections and was just waiting for my "big break."

It Finally Happened!

Not fame, but failure. During this same time, I was also working for a family who had opened a new business. A few months later I was fired and then cheated out of my back pay. I felt angry, betrayed, ashamed and most of all, hurt! I was sick of life and had made up my mind to take my 9mm pistol and kill myself! I wanted out!!! "…the sorrow of the world worketh death" (2 Corinthian 7:10). A few minutes later, though, I found myself talking to a man who told me I needed to be saved. Though I knew my life said otherwise, I told him I was a Christian; after all, "I believed in Jesus." He gave me a tract called "New Eye Opener." By God's providence, I had received this same tract about seven years earlier and over a thousand miles away.

One Last Chance!

I figured that before I ended my life, I would give God a chance. I began asking many questions and wanted to see proof from the Bible. While sincerely reading my King James Bible for the first time, I realized I was a lost sinner and headed for Hell. I knew that God was dealing with me and that there had never been a real change in my life. I had never truly repented and believed in my heart. Then one glorious night, on bent knees and with tears in my eyes, I cried out to Jesus Christ to save me. When I stood up, I knew that my sins had been forgiven. I knew that my life was going to be different from that day on, and it has been. Never from the world had I received such lasting happiness, but that night I received it instantly by trusting Jesus Christ. I finally found everlasting forgiveness and true happiness!

Conclusion

Friend, I want the same for you. Are you tired of life? Does sin have control of you? Are you searching for true and lasting forgiveness and happiness? Jesus Christ is the answer! You were born WRONG the first time. Nobody had to teach you how to sin (lie, steal, etc.); it came naturally from in your heart (Mark 7:21-23). Jesus said we must be "born again" (John 3:3) so we can be born anew and changed on the inside. (This is not baptism.) No one made you sin; you did it willfully. Sin puts us under God's wrath and will send us to Hell forever. (Revelation 14:10-11) When you sinned against God your sin became eternal because God is eternal. Therefore your punishment had to be eternal. "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him" (Romans 5:8-9). Surprisingly, there are only two religions in the world. One where man, by his good works tries to get forgiveness from God and one where God freely gives forgiveness by a man's faith in the work of His Son, Jesus Christ. "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:" (Romans 5:1) Good works will NOT save you. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9), and you cannot change on your own. God will change you and your desires to live for Him after you are, "born again." "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" (2 Corinthian 5: 17). "Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin" (Romans 6:6-7). "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed." (1Peter 2:24) Forgiveness through Christ is eternal. "For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified." (Hebrews 10:14) You can be "born again" and free from sin right now if you will pray to God with a repentant heart, by faith believing in your heart that Christ shed His blood on the cross, dying for our sins, that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures (Romans 10: 9-13; 1 Corinthian 15:1-4; Revelation. 1:5; Acts 20:21). "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:" (John 1:12) "If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them." (John 13:17)

Dear Friend, I would love to hear of your salvation, pray for you, and help you find a good Bible-believing church in your area. You should be baptized now that you believe (Acts 8:37). Buy yourself an Authorized (King James) Bible and soak yourself in it. Read and pray daily and witness to others.
